Mission Statement:
The mission of The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID) is to conduct and control all Army investigations of serious crimes, as defined in AR 195-2, and less serious crimes upon request or as needed to enforce Army law or regulations; to provide CID services to all U.S. Army elements; to maintain full knowledge of, and overall responsibility for, Army investigations of offenses involving "controlled substances" as defined in Title 21, U.S. Code, Section 812; to plan for and provide personal security (protective service) for DoD and DA as directed; and to conduct sensitive or special interest investigations as directed by the Chief of Staff, Army, or higher authority. The specific functions and responsibilities of the CID are described in AR 10-87, chapter 4, and AR 195-2.
