4th Battalion - 27th Field Artillery Regiment

As part of the reorganization of the 1st Armored Division to the US Army's new modular force structure, various units previously held at the division level were made organic to the brigades they habitually supported. 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment was subsequently reassigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division from the Division Artillry (DIVARTY). The DIVARTY was subsequently inactivated. The 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment remained a 155mm self-propelled artillery battalion as it had been before the modular reorganization. Prior to the reorganization, 4-27th Field Artillery had habitually supported the 2nd Brigade, 1st Armored Division. Prior to the relocation of the 1st Armored Division to Fort Bliss, Texas, the Battalion had been located with forward elements of the 2nd Brigade, 1st Armored Division at Baumholder, Germany.
