    • ASG-A employee, Reid, honored for service in Afghanistan Sat, 19 Jan 2019 00:00:00 ESTDepartment of Defense Expeditionary Civilian (DOD-EC) Jimmie Reid was awarded the NATO Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, a Certificate of Wartime Service and the Outstanding Civilian Service Award for his service to the Area Support Group-Afghanistan (ASG-A) from 2017 to 2019 during a ceremony at Bagram Airfield , Jan. 11, 2019. The awards were presented by ASG-A Commander Col. Jacob Peterson.

    • Battlefield Acupuncture's proven pain reduction treatment becoming popular with caregivers, patients Mon, 07 Jan 2019 00:00:00 ESTDoctors at Craig Joint Theater Hospital and its outlying clinics are implementing a pain treatment that reduces or eliminates opioid prescriptions. It is also fast and effective and allows personnel to continue working without being sent home. The treatment is called Battlefield Acupuncture and stems from Eastern medicine practiced 5,000 years ago. It was developed in 2001 by Air Force Dr. (Col.) Richard Niemtzow, who was seeking to streamline treatment to quickly reduce pain in a fast-paced environment like during a deployment. He retired in 2010.

A Security Assistance Command country program manager is one of 10 Army employees chosen. Ryan Nichols, a USASAC employee since February 2015, made the list and will join his classmates when the 10-month course kicks off in September.

To answer the question, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) asked the U.S. Army Security Assistance Command (USASAC) to support this effort by developing an expedited standalone Foreign Military Sales (FMS) case to facilitate the funding for the transportation.
