The 308th Brigade Support Battalion was first constituted on 23 February 1943 in the Army of the United States as the 308th Quartermaster Sterilization Battalion and activated on 26 April 1943 at Vancouver Barracks, Washington. The Battalion was broken up 1 August 1943 and its elements reorganized and redesignated. Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment was reorganized and redesignated as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 308th Quartermaster Fumigation and Bath Battalion. Companies A, B, C, and D were reorganized and redesignated as as the 855th, 856th, 857th, and 858th Quartermaster Fumigation and Bath Companies, respectively, each thereafter having a separate lineage.
